Above all, our mission is to provide our customers with simple, high-quality and reliable desalination systems. We understand the importance of having clean, potable water while boating, as well as the importance of your time. With Nixie Watermakers, you can spend less time worrying about clean water and more time relaxing on the ocean. Our simple and reliable desalination systems use reverse osmosis technology to turn brackish and ocean water into clean, drinkable water. We are proudly Canadian, and each watermaker is meticulously hand made in Victoria, BC with the highest quality materials.
the Name
It all started with a sailboat in Santa Cruz, Galápagos named Nixe (Nixie in English), named after the German folklore mermaid. The man who built this sailboat was Fritz Angermeyer, one of the original pioneers in Santa Cruz, Galápagos, and grandfather to Joshua Angermeyer (owner of Nixie Watermakers). Joshua has grown up around boats throughout his life and holds a great amount of pride for his family roots. The Nixe can still be found in Santa Cruz, Galápagos today.

Joshua Angermeyer has an abundant understanding of both boats and mechanical engineering. With both of his parents involved in the marine tourism industry in the Galápagos Islands, Joshua was exposed to a vast amount of knowledge regarding the maintenance and mechanics of boats at a very young age. In 2004, he received his RYA Yachtmaster certification and went on to work in the marine industry. Now the owner of VYSMAR, he manages and operates several yachts in Galápagos (Cachalote Explorer, Beluga, Vision, Passion, Mary Anne and Aqua Mare). In conclusion, Joshua’s experience and education has provided him with the passion and knowledge he needs to create high quality desalination systems for Nixie Watermakers. He is dedicated to providing consistent quality products here at Nixie Watermakers.
